How much does a Shopify store cost?
There are two costs. The monthly Shopify subscription, which you pay directly to Shopify and depends on the plan. And the store build by JWeb, which depends on the number of products and the integrations (payments, invoicing and carriers). Request a quote: we reply with a fixed price, with no surprises.
Shopify or WooCommerce: which should I choose?
Shopify includes hosting, security and updates in a monthly fee, and is the simplest to manage. WooCommerce runs on WordPress, gives you more control and has no platform fee, but needs hosting and maintenance. JWeb builds both and helps you choose.
Does Shopify accept MB Way and Multibanco?
Yes. Shopify Payments, Shopify's own payment system, already accepts MB Way and Multibanco in Portugal, alongside cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. If you prefer a Portuguese provider, such as easypay or Eupago, we connect that too. We set everything up and test it before the store opens.
How much does Shopify charge per sale?
With Shopify Payments you pay a fee on each payment, which depends on the plan and the method (card, MB Way, Multibanco). If you use another payment provider, Shopify charges an extra fee per sale, which is lower on higher plans. In the quote we explain which option pays off in your case.
Are the invoices valid for the Portuguese Tax Authority?
Yes. We connect the store to software certified by the Portuguese Tax Authority, such as InvoiceXpress or Moloni. Fully legal and automatic.
Can I ask for the customer's tax number at checkout?
Yes. The store asks the customer for their tax number (NIF) at checkout and the invoice is issued with the right details.
Does Shopify handle VAT?
Yes. Shopify applies VAT according to the rate and the delivery location (23% on the mainland, 22% in Madeira and 16% in the Azores). We set up the rates before the store opens.
Do I need to know how to code to run the store?
No. Shopify is as easy to use as email. At the end we give you training, so you know exactly where to add products or handle orders.
How long until I can start selling?
It depends on the number of products, but we usually deliver the store ready to invoice in 3 to 6 weeks.
I already have a store on another platform. Can you migrate it?
Yes. We migrate stores from any platform to Shopify, such as WooCommerce, Wix or PrestaShop.
Is the store in my name?
Yes. The store is in the client's name. If you ever stop working with us, it is still yours.
Do you connect the store to carriers?
Yes. We integrate the store with carriers, to calculate shipping and create tracking for each shipment.
Who helps me after launch?
JWeb. After the store opens, we keep providing help and support, with an annual plan or billed by the hour, whichever you prefer.
Can the store sell to other countries?
Yes. Shopify converts currencies and adapts the store's language, so you can sell to other markets.
